Our hosting service has a built-in function to prevent spam from compromised websites. This function can sometimes be triggered for legitimate users who might have invalid or undeliverable email addresses in their mailing lists.

What Happens When You Get This Error?
If you see a bounce-back message with an error like:

"Domain has exceeded the max defers and failures per hour (5/5 (100%)) allowed. Message discarded."

It means that our system detected too many failed email deliveries (bounces) from your domain. Every email account under your hosting plan is monitored regularly. If your domain exceeds the allowed number of bouncebacks within an hour, your email sending is temporarily restricted to prevent further issues.

Understanding the Error
The error "Domain has exceeded the max defers and failures per hour" indicates that your domain hit the bounce limit set for your hosting plan.

  • What does "5/5" mean?
This means that once you have 5 bouncebacks in an hour, the system starts tracking your failed email deliveries. If you send 10 emails and 5 fail, the system will count that as 5/5, which triggers a restriction on further email sending for the rest of that hour.
  • "Message discarded" means your email was not delivered.

What’s the Bounce Limit?
Each hosting plan has its own bounce limit, which you can check in your service details in Nodored or by contacting Support.

Why Is This Rule in Place?
This is a security measure to protect your account from being hijacked by spammers. Sometimes, websites get compromised and used to send spam. Spam emails typically have a high bounce rate, so this feature helps prevent damage to your reputation and keeps our servers off blacklists that could prevent legitimate emails from being delivered.

How to Solve This Error

  1. Clean Your Email List
If you send mass emails (e.g., newsletters, invoices) and have outdated or invalid email addresses on your list, this will trigger bounces. The solution is simple: clean your mailing list by removing invalid addresses.

  2. Wait for the Block to Lift
After cleaning your email list, you'll need to wait for 1 hour for the restriction to automatically lift. The system resets every hour, so if you get this error at 5:00 pm, the block will be lifted at 6:00 pm, and you can send emails again.

  3. Avoid Sending to Invalid Addresses
After the block is lifted, make sure not to send emails to invalid addresses again, as this will trigger another restriction.

By following these steps and maintaining a clean email list, you can avoid this error and ensure that your emails are delivered successfully.
